So Dan and I decided that we would alternate who was in charge of our "love" celebrations - Valentine's and Anniversary.  This year Dan was in charge of Valentine's and boy did he do a great job!  I mentioned in my last blog about the flowers Dan got for me the night before when he went out to do all of the grocery shopping.  See pic below.  (When I first got them, there was only one bud blooming, a couple have opened each day since to give me this beautiful bouquet!)  Well, that was just the beginning...

That night I came home from work to find him cooking up a storm in the kitchen.  He wouldn't let me look at what he was making so I was banished to the upstairs until he called me down 45 min later.  He gave me a hint that the dinner would be "ethnic" and something we've never had before.  So I was clueless until he brought out his homemade hummus and pita baked "chips" for the opening course.  Next came a Greek salad with fresh tomatoes and cucumbers and his own dressing creation.  And finally was the pita meal.  Yummy warm pitas stuffed with specially seasoned chicken breast, fresh lettuce and tomatoes, and his made from scratch tzatziki.  YUM!  I planned on taking a picture of it all, but I ate it too fast and completely forgot.

How lucky am I to have a man that can not only grocery shop on his own without bringing home cookies, chips and fruit loops, but who can also COOK!?!!  Then he gave me a thoughtful card and small gifts and we enjoyed the rest of our restful evening.  What a sweet Valentine I have!!

Did you ever have one of those days, where everything started out normally, except it was Valentine's Day, so it wasn't just an ordinary day, and you're talking to your husband on your cell phone as he's driving to work early in the a.m. and he says to check the guest bedroom for a surprise and you see a lovely vase of flowers and it makes you happy and when you're done with the conversation you want to take the vase downstairs and you realize you need two hands so, being in pajama pants with no pockets and an 8 month pregnant belly, the logical solution is to put your phone in your waist band in the back.  Genius!  So you go about your morning, eating breakfast, etc. and you head back upstairs to get ready for work and being pregnant you have to use the bathroom pretty frequently, so you don't think about it and take care of business, only before you even begin, you hear a PLOP!  I think you can figure out the rest...

Does this sound like something that has happened to you?  No??  Just me then??  Okay, just checking.....

I will be out of phone reach temporarily, though I'm unsure how long.  If you need to reach me, feel free to email me and I'll give you Dan's cell phone number, which I'll be using until we resolve my absent-minded (which I'm blaming on pregnancy, NOT my blonde hair) mishap.

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!!!!

Note to Self:  Get PJ pants with POCKETS

Cheesy title I know...but hey, it got you checking out the blog right??  So we returned from our brief trip to New Mexico and had a good time despite freezing snowy weather our last day and a half there, and despite Dan's insistence on watching the Super Bowl.  The blog title comes from the "Newsies" song that I couldn't get out of my head anytime we said "Santa Fe" though I couldn't think of the words beyond that part.  Click the link below if you'd like to hear the song I'm referring to!  It's a good one!

We flew into Albuquerque Friday night and spent all Saturday exploring the area.  In the morning we ventured into Old Town to explore the shops, the old church, and ventured into the Rattlesnake Museum.  Creepy!  We also spent some time at the Biological Park to see the Aquarium and Botanical Gardens.  (Although the only things blooming were in the greenhouses...)  But it was a fun place to walk around, particularly the "Giant World" they had for kids, hence me sitting on a mushroom!

We also took a tram ride up the Sandia Mountains.  It was freeeeezing at the top, but fun to see snow!  All the snow is on the back side of the mountain where skiers were abundant.  Little did we know that much more snow lie ahead of us in Santa Fe!

On Sunday morning we drove to Santa Fe by way of the Turquoise Trail.  It started snowing along the way so we couldn't take any detours to see things and just headed into the city.  We first stopped in the town plaza where there are galleries and shops galore, in addition to some pretty cool churches.  (For details on the staircase photo - click here.)  We wandered a bit in the historic hotel called La Fonda and drove to The Oldest Neighborhood in America.
