After much mental preparation, a few battles to keep Dan from secretly cutting Maddy's hair HIMSELF, and a little more mental prep...I finally got around to getting the hairs cut! She was looking a little shaggy and the heat is getting increasingly worse so necessity led to action. I was pretty attached to that hair, it was like her trademark, not to mention the same little baby hairs she had while inside the womb! It also showed how dark her hair used to be. But alas... I broke down and made it happen. Plus we go to Chicago soon and hope to get photos done with her cousin, so she needed some primping. Anyway, here are the before and after shots! I realize I don't have any from the back, those will have to come eventually, but it is only slightly longer on the sides, like a bob-ish type cut, but not really layered at all. And thanks to Kathi, the other cute girl in the pics, for doing such a smashing job!

Last month Maddy took her first steps. Here is the video to prove it. At 12:44am exactly one year ago today, Madelyn was brought into our lives and things just haven't been the same since! Dan and I often reflect on our perspective of life before we had Maddy and we realize that we can only NOW fulfill our only purpose in life, to be parents, good parents. Our lives really had no significant meaning until we had Maddy, and what a wonderful perspective that gives us. We are still learning everyday what it means to be a parent and how we want to improve ourselves in order to offer Maddy the best version of a Mom and Dad that she can have. (I suspect we will be learning something new everyday as long as we are parents.) It's a very humbling and joyous feeling to experience being a parent and we are so grateful to have our sweet Maddy as part of our family! There is a very small window of time where I can still post about Maddy's 11 months. Since she'll be 12 months old in like 72 hours. I think usually I post about the things she has learned to do in the previous weeks leading up to her actual "month-aversary" but since that was a while ago I'll just update you on things she is doing as of today! There are obviously many more of her faces, but the camera is never handy and the shutter isn't that quick! Her fish face (sucking in her cheeks) she learned from her uncles (my bros), the frown comes when she thinks she's not getting picked up or going to get more food, the grumpy bunny (scrunched nose) face comes if she hears us sniff or we do it to her and she mimics back, and the grins come ALL the time, when she thinks she's funny, when she thinks we're funny, or whenever a camera is pointed at her! We love all her faces to bits! Maddy turned 10 months old yesterday! Time is still flying, and I can't believe she's nearly a full year old! Soooo much has happened in this month, most in just the last couple of weeks! Then not too long ago I started noticing that she would somehow be sitting when at last check, I could have sworn she was on her tummy. I figured it was still my pregnancy brain messing with me, that has never fully gone away. UNTIL I walked into Maddy's room last week to get her after a nap and saw this!!! And now for the BIG NEWS!!! MADELYN IS MOBILE!!! She took her first crawls last Wednesday and hasn't stopped since! We are now realizing how quickly we need to get going on baby proofing the house! Plus I have to actually keep floors clean and things dusted on a regular basis, no more slacking!! Ehh who am I kidding... I took this video of Maddy this past Sunday. She doesn't do anything overly entertaining in the video but she does go through a smiling, angry, and spitting phase in about 30 seconds. Plus I don't think we have any videos of her on here so consider it an intro. :) I can't believe how time does fly and how quickly Madelyn is growing up before our eyes. Her 9 month well check was on Monday and she is 15lbs 13oz putting her in the 5-10%-tile and measuring almost 29in. which is the 95% mark. So we got a tall and skinny one. I swear I feed her something nearly every 2 hours! At 9 months Maddy loves: She hates: |
This was originally updates on Madelyn. Now with Ally born, I don't get to blogging as much so it's kind of pointless to have two separate pages. All our happenings are on the main blog link and anyone interested to see Maddy's early beginnings can see it here! Thanks for visiting!Click below to see more pictures of Maddy!
I created a little photo book that you can see here.
